Nick Dietrich joins the Tige Evolution Team
Nick Dietrich is one of Canada’s top local wakeboarders and one of the friendliest guy’s around. His positive attitude and progressive riding have earned him the respect of his peers both in and out of the water. Making competitive wakeboarding one of his short term goals, don’t be surprised to see him turn some heads in the next couple of years.
TB: Being from Canada, how do you train during the off season?
ND: A lot of living room wakeboarding. I think I've gotten my coffee table presses perfected. Seriously though, I try and get down to Orlando as much as I can.
TB: If you weren't wakeboarding, you would be?
TB: Do you have any other sponsors?
ND: Yes, and they are GT Performance, Liquid Force, Rusty, and Xcel.
TB: How did you get into wakeboarding in the first place?
ND: I remember my oldest brother buying a wakeboard and making me try it. I was pretty upset with him, until I got up. Then, I was given the choice between a wakeboard and a kneeboard...Glad I chose standing sideways!
TB: What is a typical day like for you?
ND: I get up in the morning and go to work as a personal trainer. Then, if the Canadian winds co-operate, I will go out and ride unti I see more clients, get in my own personal workout, and ride again before the sun goes down.
TB: What's it like being a newby on a team with pro riders like Aaron Rathy & Dean Smith? Young Buck?
ND: I haven't heard that term thrown my direction in a while. No matter what age you are, you can still look up to people as well as learn from their experiences and successes. Aaron and Dean have their fair share of both.
TB: What's your biggest goal as a wakeboarder?
ND: I want to keep pushing my riding as much as I can, while continuing to get more people involved in our sport.
TB: What's your biggest accomplishment so far?
ND: Definitely, signing with Tige!
TB: Who's your favorite rider to watch right now?
ND: Anyone that's pushing her or himself to learn a new trick.
TB: Name one spot that you could wakeboard the rest of your life?
ND: Behind a Tige!
TB: What keeps you busy when you're not riding?
ND: I stay busy with work, school, surfing, and playing the guitar. I have an extended list of hobbies that keep me pretty busy.
TB: Any thanks you'd like to send out?
ND: First of all, I would like to thank my family for the countless hours of pulling me behind the boat and always allowing me to pursue my dreams, whatever that may be. Also, I would like to thank Tyler at GT Performance, who has opened up so many opportunities for me and continues to help in any way that he can. Thank you to Aaron Lepin and my sponsors for keeping me up to date with all of the latest gear. Of course, thank you to everyone at Tige for treating me like part of the family since day one!
