Tige Boats Proudly Built in Texas

Tige started as most great ideas do—from the belief that things could be different—that things could be better. In 1991, our founder and CEO, Charlie Pigeon, decided that he was going to create a high performance boat company that would put the customers experience first. Tige was founded in Merced, California based on one visionary idea: The Convex V Hull.

In 1994, Charlie Pigeon began looking for a more central location to further grow Tige. The Abilene Industrial Foundation recruited Charlie to relocate Tige to Abilene, Texas. When looking at building an international business in Abilene, Charlie saw many beneficial factors: central location for shipping across North America and reaching international ports in Houston, stable weather conditions, community support, and ease of travel with Abilene Regional Airport. Tige now proudly supports 165 of the most talented employees in Abilene, and in return Abilene has supported the growth and progression of Tige.

Abilene is centrally located in the best state to do business—Texas. West Texas represents some of the most promising ground for community and business development. With a steady economy, low cost of living, quality workforce and a thriving economy, Tige Boats is one of the many corporations that has selected Abilene as their preferred city to manufacture and distribute world renowned products. Even with all of the the large city amenities, Abilene still focuses on having a friendly, safe, hometown atmosphere that's only a short drive from Dallas/Fort Worth and Austin.

In January 2006, Tige opened its new state-of-the-art headquarters and manufacturing facility in Abilene. The 130,000 square foot complex triples Tige’s production capacity and dramatically boosts operating efficiency and product quality. The new headquarters includes a dedicated Product Development and Engineering facility and is the world’s most advanced inboard manufacturing facility.

The partnership between the economic development, Abilene Industrial Foundation, City of Abilene and Tige Boats has flourished over the past 20 years and we look forward to many more years in the future in Abilene.
