#TigeStories: Dominic Lagace adventures to Mexico

Aug 07, 2014

Mexico

After an awesome time in Quebec, it was time to travel to Lake Tequesquitengo located about 2 hours from Mexico City. It’s one of the four touristy destinations of the Springs
of Mexico. They have incredible weather all year long. The lake is the perfect size and not too crowded which helps it stay smooth in the mornings and during the weekdays.

It’s a vacation place for the local people in Mexico where a lot of wakeboarding, and boat action happens. I caught up with my girlfriend at the airport, which made
coming to this event that much better.

The location for the event was great and the four amazing and brand new Tige
Boats topped it off which included: the RZR, the Z3, Z1 and the brand new Tige ASR.

Tige in Mexico is super new. Promarine, the dealer, is super stoked about bringing Tige brand to Mexico. They just opened their store at
the beautiful lake in valle de Bravo close to Mexico City.

The marketing organization for this event did a great job, with TV spots, radio
announcements, big signs in the principals roads helped make it a successful event. We arrived just
when they was testing the boats. People were starting to surf behind the
boat they wanted.

The sport in Mexico is super new, I was the one that introduced it four years ago
when my girlfriend and I came for the first time to this lake to hang out
with the Mexican Wakeboard Crew. At that time nobody had heard of wakesurfs, so it was super cool for
me to came back for their first wakesurf event. The level of course was not super high since the event was new for them. I got to see
amazing stuff in their runs, things that I never seen before like a boy
with some tennis balls doing malabares, and acrobatic stuff. I judged the
event and even with it being a new sport the turn out was more than
 40 riders.

It was an honor for me to be their pro rider, judge , and the inauguration of
the first event of the AWS in Mexico. The Saturday was the contest, they had a hot air balloon, a
Indo board contest, paddle contest, and clavados contest.. so everyone
had a blast. The media was there too. I gave a few interviews and signed a bund of boards,
it was super cool to see a lot of my pro model boards from Liquid Force, in
their differents editions, and seem that people really like it.

That Sunday we could relax, and we started to celebrate my birthday with a BBQ
at the pool, a DJ, amazing hamburgers and friends. We also celebrated
the birthday of the organization of the event… so it was really fun.

 I
got a boat for myself to train for the next 10 days, and we could stay at
the TX Hotel, the lovely hotel boutique of one of our friends call Alberto
Miranda and his wife. They treat us super well, all their staff was great
with Marina and me. We got the boat parking on the lake so we
could go to the boat whenever we feel like it. I am a morning person so everyday when the water was the smoothest I
would go train, and filming with my GoPro, during the week in this lake there
is not so many boats so I could find amazing water everyday. We got the perfect set up, the boat, the lake, the hotel, the food for Marina and me. We had an amazing time, the weather here is crazy hot, it
almost felt like beach weather. We had a great time in Mexico.

A big thank you to the AWS, Tige Boats, Promarine, Tx Hotel, and Ride for life
 for the hospitality and memories.
